All of our trainers are ABCD certified, which means they’ve been trained in anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. They understand that no two bodies are alike and will work with you to get fit at the right pace.
Carlos "Bronco"
Carlos "Bronco" Oliveira was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Daniel Gracie in 1997in Rio De Janeiro. His tutelage continued under Rodrigo Nogueira and later, Murilo Bustamante at Brazilian Top Team. Receiving his black belt in 2009 from Raphael Barboza. 2012 Carlos opened his own academy in Cranford, New Jersey. Now affiliated with his old friend Master Renzo Gracie, Carlos' school continues to go from strength to strength. Carlos has passion for applying his experience to helping you reach your goals.
Thiago “No Mercy” Angelon
Thiago "No Mercy" began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 1999 in São Paulo, Brazil. He became a Brazilian champion under the IBJJF and has won several state championships. In 2019, he earned his black belt from Renzo Gracie. As a black belt, he is a world champion in the SJJIF (Sports Jiu-Jitsu International Federation) in both Gi and No-Gi categories, securing 2nd place in the open class No-Gi division. Thiago is also a retired MMA fighter. Throughout his career, he trained with numerous martial arts legends, including Gregor Gracie, Eddie Cummings, and more. In 2024, he received his black belt in Luta Livre Esportiva. Thiago is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge and helping others elevate their skills.
Edwin "Eddie" Cruz
With 25 plus years of Martial Arts and Law Enforcement training experience, Professor Cruz has combined his cohesive mental and tactical training in effectively creating elite Mixed Martial Arts fighters. He invoked a "Real to Life" Self Defense program and mindset for both adults and kids. Along with his reactive response and critical assessment curriculum, he has created a safe haven for kids with his "Anti-bullying program". Both our kids and adults classes thrive on the realistic concept which they learn every class with our Professor.
Tommy Caruso
Tommy has been training BJJ since 1993 and received his Black Belt from Renzo Gracie in 2009. Between work and family he has never given up training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is now one of our top instructors at Renzo Gracie Garwood. He is always searching for more knowledge, new techniques and a different game to teach his students diversity, flexibility, and fast thinking.
