Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu includes throws, hold downs, and submissions to control or neutralize your attacker. It can be practiced at all ages by men, women, and children. Regular training creates a strong, lean body and a sharp mind. It is a game of physical chess. There are many moves to master, and combinations to ingrain. It takes time and effort, but the BJJ journey is like no other.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi - Grappling

No-Gi also knowing as Submission Grappling is a new sport with a long history. The object is to submit your opponent using a variety of joint locks and chokes, or to win the match on points. Competitions in this sport resemble Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competitions, although competitors do not usually wear gis. This lack of gi increases the amount of speed and athleticism required, and it also limits the sweeping and submission options of the competitors. Submission Grappling is mainly based on Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.The influence of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu can be seen in the types of positions and submissions most commonly used in the sport.

Executive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

At Renzo Gracie Garwood we firmly believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, no matter the age or athletic ability. However, we also recognize that undertaking “The Gentle Art” can be a little intimidating for the mature student who has never trained before. That’s why we offer The Executive Class. Here, students train with their peers at an age appropriate pace, and enjoy the same quality instruction as our other classes in a less intense setting. What are you waiting for?

Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

As parents, we all know that kids need to stay active and healthy. Martial arts is a great way for kids to do both these things. Instead of seasonal sports where progress is slower, kids who participate consistently in a martial arts program will see guaranteed changes in behavior at home and school. At Renzo Gracie Cranford, we focus on building kids’ life skills while they are making friends and learning martial arts. Watch your child’s energy, confidence, and spirit rise while he or she becomes strong and confident. We’re not just talking about physical strength, but also self-esteem and self-confidence that will build a successful life, personal and professional.

Women Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

There are myriad benefits of training and competing in a combat sport that could benefit women both individually and collectively. It makes you physically and mentally stronger. It trains resilience, determination and commitment, and best of all, you may become a role model to younger women, showing them what it’s like to embody strength, courage, and a fierce intelligence. It increases flexibility, mobility, strength, and self-confidence. It’s not just a workout — it’s a life-saving skill. You will learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones, even if an attacker is bigger and stronger than you.

Self-Defense/Bully Proof

Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Bullying is divided into four basic types of abuse – emotional (sometimes called relational), verbal, physical, and cyber. Rationalizations for such behavior sometimes include differences of social class, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, behavior, body language, personality, reputation, lineage, strength, size or ability. At Renzo Gracie Cranford we will empower your child with unshakable confidence. They will learn the verbal strategies to stand up to bullies, and a series of non-violent self-defense techniques to keep them safe if they are physically attacked.
